The book presentation took place in the presence of André Azoulay, Advisor to HM the King and President-Founder of the Essaouira-Mogador Association and of an array of academics, researchers and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
The book was presented at the 6th Scientific Meeting held by the Center for Studies and Research on Hebrew Law in Morocco, jointly with the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation in Morocco, the Essaouira-Mogador Association and "Bayt Dakira".
Published by the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation, the book contains excerpts from Speeches and Messages of His Majesty King Mohammed VI given on several major events such as the official visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Rabat in March 2019 or the UNESCO Summit on "Education to Prevent Racism and Discrimination" (New York in September 2018).
The publication features photos of the historic visit made by HM King Mohammed VI to "Bayt Dakira" and encloses extracts of speeches by André Azoulay during several meetings and seminars in Essaouira and in other cities of the Kingdom.
"In Morocco, the Jewish tradition and its coexistence with Islam is based on a long history. The two cultures have been intimately linked for centuries, Konrad-Adenauer Foundation Country Director Steffen Krüger wrote in the foreword of the book.
In a similar contribution, Abdellah Ouzitane, founding president of the Center for Studies and Research on Hebrew Law in Morocco, noted that "understanding the challenges of this Moroccan singularity and its promotion is a responsibility we all share because every culture is enriched by its historical roots."
The publication includes a series of articles written by eminent researchers and university professors on several themes, such as "The Center for Studies and Research on Hebrew Law in Morocco: a singular expression of a Morocco that is a land of peace, harmony and coexistence," "Peace and Tolerance in the Thought and Action of His Majesty the King" and "The structure of the Halakhic law, Foundation and General Scope."
On the sidelines of the presentation of this book, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Center for Studies and Research on Hebrew Law in Morocco and the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation, represented respectively by Ouzitane and Krüger.
