"Morocco is an important market for Emirates in Africa. The resumption of our scheduled flights to Casablanca demonstrates our confidence in this destination and its strong growth potential, as well as our total commitment to contribute to the development of tourism and trade in the Kingdom," Al Fajeer stressed in an interview with MAP.
The company has, indeed, officially resumed, since September 18, its passenger services, at a rate of three weekly flights to Casablanca, he said, highlighting the growing demand for the Casablanca-Dubai air route and the strong dynamic of freight activity from Casablanca.
On the importance of Africa in Emirates' strategy, Al Fajeer deemed the continent a "great success story" for the company, while stressing Emirates' commitment to providing strategic links between Africa and the emerging markets of Asia, the Middle East and Australia.
"We have worked to bring our network to pre-crisis levels. Since the beginning of October, we have been serving 20 destinations in Africa, representing 90% of our pre-Covid African network. Of course, we are continuing our efforts to re-establish our flight frequencies in the continent and we have seen encouraging signs of growing demand to these destinations," he said.
In addition, the CEO of Emirates Morocco stated that it will take nearly two years for the company to regain the full capacity of its network as it was in 2019.
"I hope that by then, many countries will have fully opened their borders and relaxed entry conditions and that their economies will return to normal. Emirates will thus fully exploit its network and hopefully with as much success as before," Al Fajeer said.
