President Bolsonaro, who spoke by video-conference during the Brazil-Arab Economic Forum, stressed that Morocco is a "key" supplier of fertilizers for Brazilian agribusiness, recalling the agreement on investment cooperation and facilitation (ACFI) signed in 2019 between the Kingdom and Brazil.
"Morocco, with which we are experiencing an important political rapprochement, is a strategic partner for Brazil and for our agriculture, in that it is a key supplier of fertilizers," he said.
The Brazilian President deemed that relations between Brazil and the Arab countries are living their "best historical moment". "The quality of political relations allows us to open new areas of cooperation in strategic sectors such as science, technology, innovation and energy," he insisted.
The cooperation has had a positive impact on development and investment, Bolsonaro added. "Exchanges have intensified even during the pandemic of the new coronavirus to strengthen these relations and we have taken steps to encourage post-pandemic economic cooperation," said the Brazilian head of State.
The opening ceremony of this forum, held in a virtual setting due to the coronavirus pandemic, was marked by the participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Abu al-Gheit.
Organized by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce under the theme "the future is now", the event (Oct. 19-22) aims to promote and strengthen commercial and cultural ties between Brazil and Arab countries, offering a reflection on how these relations can be developed and strengthened in a sustainable manner.
