Morocco is represented by the Kingdom's Ambassador to Turkey Mohamed Ali Lazrak, at this Economic Forum whose opening session was marked by the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, African ministers of economy, African and Turkish economic actors, as well as several diplomats.
The ministerial meeting held on Thursday was attended by 17 African trade ministers as well as Turkish trade minister Ruhsar Pekcan, Commissioner for Economic Affairs of the African Union Commission Harrison Victor and representatives of African regional economic organizations, such as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
According to the organizers, the forum provided the opportunity to hold several thematic panels and bilateral meetings between economic actors from the public and private sectors to discuss opportunities of cooperation and economic integration between the two sides.
The two previous sessions of the Forum were organized respectively in 2008 in Istanbul and in 2014 in Malabo, while the third edition is organized in virtual mode by the African Union Commission, the Turkish Ministry of Trade and the Turkish Council on Economic Foreign Relations, due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 epidemic.
