The program takes into account the situation of water resources and the evolution of climatic conditions in the fall season, the ministry said in a release issued following a meeting held Thursday, via teleconference, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests.
The program focuses on cereal seeds, cereals, food legumes, fodder crops, sugar crops, and market gardening in all agricultural regions across Morocco, the same source added.
As for vegetable crops, a program will be implemented to ensure a normal supply of the domestic market and to respond to the increase in exports of market garden products with a view to achieving a balance of supply and demand, the ministry explained.
The total programmed market garden area amounts to 105,000 hectares, it added, stressing that the expected production will cover consumption needs for these products from January to May as well as exports, particularly for tomatoes.
The Agriculture Ministry deemed "relatively stable" the prices at the domestic market, stressing that increases in certain products prices are "cyclical."
Morocco banks on a 10% Increase in agricultural food exports during the 2020-2021 agricultural campaign compared to the previous campaign.
