The two men were arrested on board a car in Moulay Rachid district, National Police (DGSN) said in a statement, adding that search operations led to the seizure of 6,000 psychotropic pills.

Further search operations at the home of one of the suspects led to the discovery of 8,850 other psychotropic pills, the source added.

The two suspects were placed on custody while investigations are underway under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office.

This operation is part of efforts made by National Police to fight against drug trafficking networks.
