Speaking by teleconference at the 41st General Assembly of the ASEAN Interparliamentary Assembly (AIPA 41) organized from September 8 to 10 in Hanoi, El Malki noted that parliamentary diplomacy constitutes an essential interface for international cooperation and the promotion of democracy, the house said in a statement.
Speaking as a guest of honor and in the presence of a group of figures and representatives of international organizations, El Malki underlined the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening international cooperation, noting that it is a full-fledged diplomacy making it possible to achieve several objectives.
He also affirmed that parliamentary relations constitute communication channels capable of strengthening relations between countries, especially when official communication seems difficult, welcoming in this regard the action of multilateral parliamentary organizations for their contribution to strengthening consultation and coordination between different parliaments around the world.
This session, held under the theme "Parliamentary Diplomacy for an Integrated and Effective ASEAN Gathering," includes discussions on topics relating to the role of female parliamentarians in creating employment opportunities, and the role of young people in promoting integration among ASEAN countries.
