The suspects were arrested on the beach of Agadir, National Police (DGSN) said in a release, adding that initial investigations have shown that five of these individuals were active in international drug trafficking and the organization of illegal migration operations while the remaining seven, including the two minors, were would-be illegal emigrants.

The searches carried out in connection with this case led to the seizure of a light car, two life jackets and 463 kilograms of cannabis resin, the source added.

The adult suspects were placed on custody, while the minors were placed under surveillance pending the end of investigations conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office.

This operation is part of efforts made by security services to fight against international drug trafficking, illegal emigration and human trafficking.
