This new figure brings to 29,644 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the first case reported on March 2 and to 20,553 that of people who fully recovered, a recovery rate of 69.3%, said coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health, Mouad Mrabet.
The death toll rose to 449, with 14 new deaths recorded in the past 24 hours (03 in Fez, 03 in Casablanca, 02 in Rabat, 02 in Tangier, 01 in Errachidia, 01 in Ouezzane, 01 in Laâyoune and 01 in Essaouira), he added.
The official said that 86% of new cases were recorded at the level of 4 regions, namely Casablanca-Settat, Marrakech-Safi, Fez-Meknes and Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, noting that 77% of cases have been identified in Casablanca, Marrakech, Fez and Tangier.
Mrabet also pointed out that the number of cases excluded after negative test results amounts to 1,354,172 (+121,122).
He also said that 858 of the new cases (75%) were detected as part of the contact tracking system which has so far reached 131,494 people, including 19,776 currently under medical monitoring.
As for the geographical distribution of the new cases, the official said that 383 cases were recorded in Casablanca-Settat (363 in Casablanca, 13 in Mediouna, 06 in Mohammédia and 01 in Benslimane), 289 in Marrakech-Safi (269 in Marrakech, 13 in El Haouz, 03 in Safi, 02 in Kelaâ des Sraghna, 01 in Chichaoua and 01 in Rhamna), 202 in Fez-Meknès (146 in Fez, 26 in Taza, 13 in Meknes, 11 in Taounate, 03 in Ifrane, 02 in El Hajeb and 01 in Moulay Yaacoub), 109 cases in Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (99 in Tangier, 09 in Tétouan and 01 in Larache), 74 cases in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (25 in Temara, 22 in Rabat, 14 in Sidi Kacem, 10 in Salé, 02 in Sidi Slimane and 01 in Kénitra), 33 cases in Draâ-Tafilalet (16 in Ouarzazate, 08 in Midelt, 05 in Zagoura, 03 in Errachidia and 01 in Tinghir), 31 cases in Béni Mellal-Khénifra (22 in Béni Mellal, 05 in Azilal, 02 in Khenifra, 01 in Khouribga and 01 in Fqih Ben Saleh), 14 cases in the eastern region (08 in Jerada, 02 in Taourirt, 02 in Guercif, 01 Berkane, 01 Figuig), 05 cases in Souss-Massa (all in Agadir), 02 cases in Dakhla-Oued Ed Dahab, all in Dakhla, 01 in Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (in Laâyoune) and 1 case in Guelmim-Oued Noun (in TanTan).
Regarding active cases, Mrabet indicated that 8,642 people are currently under treatment in hospitals (24/100,000 inhabitants), distributed between the regions of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (2,296), Casablanca-Settat (2,073), Fez-Meknes (1.922), Marrakech-Safi (1.071) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (01 case).
For people in critical condition, he reported 115 cases admitted to intensive care units (18 intubated people), adding that these cases are distributed between the regions of Casablanca-Settat (41 cases, including 13 intubated people), Marrakech-Safi (29), Tétouan-Al Hoceima (21, including 01 intubated person), Fez-Meknes (13, including 02 intubated patients), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (08, including 02 intubated persons) and Souss-Massa (03).
