This new figure brings to 28,500 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the first case reported on March 2 and to 19,994 that of fully recovered people, i.e. a recovery rate of 70%, said coordinator of the National Public Health Emergency Operations Center at the Ministry of Health, Mouad Mrabet.
The death toll rose to 435, with 18 new deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, he added, noting that the cumulative incidence rate is 78.5/100,000 inhabitants.
The official said that 94% of the new cases were recorded at the level of five regions, namely Casablanca-Settat, Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, Fez-Meknes, Marrakech-Safi and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, noting that 2/3 of the cases were recorded in Casablanca, Fez, Tangier and Marrakech.
Mrabet also stressed that the number of cases excluded after negative test results amounts to 21,278, for a total of 1,333,050 cases.
He also said that 1,001 of the new cases (78%) were detected as part of the contact tracking system which has so far reached 126,486 people, including 17,865 currently under medical surveillance.
As for the geographical distribution of the new cases, the official said that 322 cases were recorded in Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (296 in Tangier, 23 in Fahs-Anjra, 02 in Tétouan, 01 in Al Hoceima), 296 in Marrakech-Safi (262 in Marrakech, 14 in Kelaâ des Sraghna, 10 in El Haouz, 07 in Youssoufia, 01 in Rhamna, 01 in Chichaoua and 01 in Safi), 249 in Casablanca-Settat (203 in Casablanca, 23 in Settat, 09 in Mediouna, 07 in Mohammédia, 06 in El Jadida and 01 in Benslimane), 201 in Fez-Meknès (110 in Fez, 48 in Sefrou, 27 in Meknès, 12 in Moulay Yaacoub, 03 in Boulmane and 01 in Ifrane), 136 in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (68 in Sidi Kacem, 26 in Rabat, 17 in Sale, 17 in Temara, 04 in Khémisset and 04 in Kénitra), 26 in Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (25 in Tarfaya and 01 in Laâyoune) , 22 in Béni Mellal-Khénifra (15 in Béni Mellal, 03 in Khenifra, 02 in Khouribga and 02 in Fqih Ben Saleh), 13 in the eastern region (07 in Nador, 03 in Oujda, 02 in Driouch and 01 in Taourirt), 10 in Draâ-Tafilalet (08 in Midelt, 01 in Tinghir and 01 in Errachidia), 05 in Souss Massa (03 in Agadir, 01 in Inezegane and 01 in Tiznit) and 03 cases in Dakhla-Oued Ed Dahab, all identified in Dakhla.
Regarding active cases, Mrabet indicated that 8,071 people are currently under treatment in hospitals (22.2/100,000 inhabitants), distributed between the regions of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (2,343), Fez-Meknes (1,928), Casablanca-Settat (1.795), Marrakech-Safi (857), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (595), Drâa-Tafilalet (163), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (159), the eastern region (111), Dakhla-Oued Ed Dahab (46), Souss-Massa (39), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (34) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (1).
For people in critical condition, he reported 108 cases admitted to intensive care units (19 intubated people), adding that these cases are distributed between the regions of Casablanca-Settat (38 cases, including 10 intubated people), Marrakech-Safi (22), Tétouan-Al Hoceima (26, including one intubated patient), Fez-Meknes (12, including 04 intubated people), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (08, including 04 intubated people) and Souss-Massa (02).
