This new figure brings to 27,217 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the first case reported on March 2 and to 19,629 that of people who fully recovered, a recovery rate of 72.1%, said coordinator of the National Public Health Emergency Operations Center at the Ministry of Health, Mouad Mrabet.
The death toll rose to 417, with 16 new deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, he added, noting that the cumulative incidence rate is 75/100,000 inhabitants.
The official said that 86% of new cases were recorded at the level of four regions, namely Casablanca-Settat, Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, Fez-Meknes and Marrakech-Safi, noting that 73% of these cases were identified in Casablanca, Fez, Tangier and Marrakech.
As for the sixteen deaths, they occurred in the cities of Casablanca (03), Marrakech (03), Meknes (02), Fez (02), Tangier (02), El Hajeb (01), Al Hoceima (01), Tétouan (01) and Benslimane (01), said the official, noting that the number of cases excluded after negative test results stands at 21,107, for a total of 1,311,772 cases.
He also specified that 755 of the 1,021 new cases (75%) were detected as part of the contact tracking system which has so far reached 126,170 contact persons, including 17,446 currently under medical monitoring.
As for the geographical distribution of the new cases, the official said that 422 cases were recorded in Casablanca-Settat (394 in Casablanca, 11 in Mohammédia, 08 in Nouacer, 04 in Benslimane, 03 in Berrechid and 02 cases in El Jadida ), 179 cases in Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (106 in Tangier, 25 in Tétouan, 24 in Al Hoceima, 07 in Fahs-Anjra, 06 in Ouazzane, 05 in Chefchaouen, 04 in Mdiq and 02 cases in Laarache), 165 in Fez-Meknes (140 in Fez, 16 in Meknes, 07 in El Hajeb and 02 cases in Sefrou), 114 in Marrakech-Safi (101 in Marrakech, 10 in Youssoufia, 02 in Essaouira and one case in Rahmna), 67 in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (24 in Temara, 21 in Sale, 15 in Rabat, 05 in Khémisset, one case in Kénitra and one case in Sidi Slimane), 22 in Béni Mellal-Khénifra (14 in Béni Mellal, 04 in Khouribga, 03 in Khenifra and one case in Fqih Ben Saleh), 19 in Draâ-Tafilalet (13 in Ourzazate, 03 in Tinghir, one case in Errachidia, one case in Midelt and one case in Zagoura), 16 in the eastern region (06 in Jerada, 04 in Oujda, 04 in Guercif, one case in Berkane and one case in Taourirt), 13 in Souss Massa (08 in Agadir, 04 in Inezegane and 01 in Tiznit) and 4 cases in Dakhla-Oued Ed Dahab, all identified in Dakhla.
Regarding active cases, Mrabet indicated that 7,171 people are currently under treatment in hospitals, distributed between the regions of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (2,046), Casablanca-Settat (1,822), Fez-Meknes (1,758), Marrakech-Safi (577), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (473), Drâa-Tafilalet (153), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (143), the eastern region (104), Dakhla-Oued Ed Dahab (43), Souss-Massa (43), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (8) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (1).
For people in critical condition, he reported 92 cases admitted to intensive care units (19 intubated people), adding that these cases are distributed between the regions of Casablanca-Settat (30 cases, including 11 intubated people), Marrakech-Safi (23), Tétouan-Al Hoceima (18, including one intubated person), Fez-Meknes (12, including 04 intubated people), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (07, including 03 intubated people) and Souss-Massa (02).
