This new figure brings to 26,196 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the first case reported on March 2 and to 18,968 that of people who fully recovered, that is a recovery rate of 72.4%, said coordinator of the National Public Health Emergency Operations Center at the Ministry of Health, Mouad Mrabet.
The death toll rose to 401, with 19 new deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, he added, noting that the cumulative incidence rate is 72/100,000 inhabitants. As for the highest rates, the official went on, these are in particular Fez with 16/100,000 inhabitants, Tangier (13/100,000), Errachidia (06/100,000), Témara (04/100,000), Marrakech (03/100,000), Beni-Mellal (03/100,000) and Casablanca (02/100,000).
The nineteen deaths occurred in the cities of Casablanca (3), Tangier (8), Fez (2), Marrakech (3), Rabat (1), Tétouan (1) and Al Hoceima (1), said the official, who noted that the number of cases excluded after negative results of laboratory analyzes amounts to 21,008, for a total of 1,290,665 cases.
He also said that 83% of new cases were detected as part of the contact tracking system which has so far reached 123,067 contact persons, including 16,226 currently under medical monitoring.
As for the geographical distribution of the new cases, the official said that Fez-Meknes recorded 225 cases (201 in Fez, 13 in Meknes, 04 in Ifrane, 03 in Sefrou, 02 in Moulay Yaacoub, 1 case in Taza and 1 case in Taounate), 180 cases in Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (154 in Tangier, 10 in Tétouan, 06 in M'diq and Fnideq, 05 in Al Hoceima, 03 in Ouazzane, 1 case in Laarache and 1 case in Chefchaouen), 89 cases in Casablanca-Settat (77 in Casablanca and 12 cases in Berrechid), 54 cases in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (30 in Témara, 09 in Rabat, 09 in Sidi Kacem, 02 in Sidi Slimane; 02 in Khémisset and 02 in Sale), 44 cases in Marrakech-Safi (all in Marrakech), 33 cases in Drâa-Tafilalet (24 in Errachidia, 05 in Tinguir, 02 in Midelt and 02 in Ouarzazate), 20 cases in Béni Mellal-Khénifra (17 in Béni Mellal and 03 in Azilal), 11 cases in the eastern region (06 in Taourirt, 03 in Oujda, 1 in Guercif and 1 in Driouch), 02 cases in Dakhla and one case in Agadir Ida-Ou Tanane.
Regarding active cases, Mrabet indicated that 6,827 people are currently under treatment in hospitals, distributed between the regions of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (1.955), Fez-Meknes (1.847), Casablanca-Settat (1.545), Marrakech-Safi (576), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (456), Drâa-Tafilalet (138), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (126), the eastern region (88), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (52), Souss-Massa (35), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (08) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (01).
For people in critical condition, he reported 79 cases admitted to intensive care units, adding that these cases are distributed between the regions of Casablanca-Settat (24 cases, including 7 intubated people), Marrakech-Safi (19), Tétouan-Al Hoceima (16, including 2 intubated patients), Fez-Meknes (11, including 2 intubated people), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (7, including 3 intubated people) and Souss-Massa (2).
