This new figure brings to 25,537 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the first case reported on March 2 and to 18,435 that of people who fully recovered, that is a recovery rate of 72%, said the head of the communicable diseases division at the Ministry of Health, Abdelkrim Meziane Belfkih.
The death toll rose to 382, with 15 new deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, he added, noting that the cumulative incidence rate is 70/100,000 inhabitants.
These fifteen deaths occurred in the cities of Casablanca (5), Tangier (5), Fez (2), Marrakech (2) and Rabat (1), said the official, who noted that the number of cases excluded after negative laboratory results amounted to 20,733, for a total of 1,269,657 cases.
He also said that 87% of the 522 new cases were detected as part of the contact tracking system which has so far reached 25,537 cases, of which 16,159 people are currently under medical supervision.
As for the geographical distribution of the new cases, the official said that 183 cases were identified in the region of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (167 in Tangier, 2 in M'diq, 7 in Al Hoceima, 2 in Ouazzane and 5 in Tetouan), 146 in Fez-Meknès (114 in Fez, 8 in Meknès, 4 in Taounate, 14 in Sefrou and 6 in Taza), 79 in Casablanca-Settat (70 in Casablanca, 4 in Sidi Bennour, 3 in Settat and 2 in Mediouna) and 34 cases in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (16 in Rabat, 10 in Kénitra, 5 in Témara, 1 in Sidi Kacem, one case in Sidi Slimane and another in Khémisset).
The other regions that have detected new cases are Drâa-Tafilalet (27 cases, including 19 in Errachidia, 2 in Midelt and 6 in Ouarzazate), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (27 cases, including 14 in khénifra, 10 in Béni Mellal, one case in Azilal, one in Fqih Ben Saleh and another in Khouribga), Marrakech-Safi with 9 cases (6 in Marrakech, 2 in Youssoufia and another case in Safi), the eastern region (9 cases, including 4 in Taourirt, 3 in Oujda and one case in Berkane and another in Jerrada), Souss-Massa (4 cases, including 2 in Agadir and two others in Inezgane), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (2 cases in Laâyoune), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (2 case in Dakhla). The region of Guelmim-Oued Noun has not recorded any new cases.
Regarding active cases, Belfkih indicated that 6,720 people are currently under treatment in hospitals, among them 79 are in critical condition. These people are distributed between the regions of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (2.151), Casablanca-Settat (1.541), Fez-Meknes (1.657), Marrakech-Safi (554), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (420), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (108), Drâa-Tafilalet (107), the eastern region (89), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (50), Souss-Massa (34 cases), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (8 cases) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (1 case).
For people in critical condition, he reported 79 cases admitted to intensive care units, of which 11 are intubated. These cases are distributed between the regions of Casablanca-Settat (25 cases, including 7 intubated people), Fez-Meknes (10), Marrakech-Safi (20), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (6, including 2 intubated people), Souss- Massa (2) and Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (16, including 2 intubated people).
