This brings to 22,213 the number of contaminations since the first case was reported in the Kingdom on March 2, and to 17,125 the number of fully recovered people, i.e. a recovery rate of 77.1%, said coordinator of the national Center for emergency public health operations at the ministry of Health, Mouad Mrabet.
The number of fatalities rises to 334, with seven new deaths in the last 24 hours (3 in Tangier, 2 in Casablanca, 2 in Fez), he added.
The cumulative incidence rate stands at 61.2/100,000 inhabitants, he said, noting that in the last 24 hours, 2.3 people out of 100,000 inhabitants have been infected.
He said that 724 of the new cases have been detected through the contact tracing system, having so far reached some 117,166 people, of whom 13,754 are currently under medical supervision, revealing a reproduction rate of 1.6.
As for the geographical distribution of new cases, Mrabet said that 284 cases have been registered in the Casablanca-Settat region (280 in Casablanca, 2 in Mohammedia and 2 in El Jadida), 206 in the Fez-Meknes region (173 in Fez, 12 in Sefrou, 6 in Taounat, 5 in Meknes, 5 in Taza, 3 in El Hajeb, 1 in Moulay Yacoub and Boulmane) and 167 in the Tangier-Tetouan- Al Hoceima region (130 in Tangier, 12 in Tetouan, 11 in Fahs-Anjara, 6 in Larache, 4 in Al Hoceima and 2 cases in Mdi'q-Fnide'q and Ouazzane).
The other regions that reported new cases are Marrakech-Safi (95), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (33), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (15), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (10 cases), the Eastern region (8) Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (5 cases), Draâ-Tafilalet (2) and Souss-Massa (1), he said, adding that the region of Guelmim-Oued Noun has not recorded any new cases.
The number of cases excluded after negative laboratory results amounts to 20,408, for a total of 1,187,822, Mrabet said.
With regard to active cases, he noted that 4,754 people are currently under treatment, distributed between the regions of Casablanca-Settat (1,467), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (1,389), Fez-Meknes (959), Marrakech-Safi (486), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (203) the Eastern region (75), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (47), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (44), Drâa-Tafilalet (43), Souss-Massa (22 cases), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (10 cases) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (9 cases).
About the people in critical condition, Mrabet reported 81 cases admitted to the intensive care and resuscitation units, including 12 intubated persons, noting that these cases are distributed among the regions of Casablanca-Settat (25, including 7 intubated persons), Marrakech-Safi (23, including 2 intubated people), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (17), Fez-Meknes (14, including 2 intubated persons) and Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (2 cases, including 1 intubated people).
