El Otmani, who was receiving Chile's ambassador in Rabat, Alex Geiger Soffia, at the end of his diplomatic mission in the kingdom, underlined that Morocco is pleased with the quality of relations which bind it to the Republic of Chile since the beginning of the sixties.
These are "longstanding relations that are further developing", he pointed out, according to a release issued by the department of the head of government.
During this meeting, the Head of Government stressed the need to be innovative in terms of cooperation between the two countries, in particular in the light of the repercussions of the pandemic of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
El Otmani also praised the work of the Chilean ambassador during his stay in Morocco, wishing him success in his future functions.
For his part, Mr. Geiger Soffia hailed the reforms that Morocco has undertaken over the past two decades, expressing the wish to see bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation "rising to the level of political relations" between Rabat and Santiago, the source added.
The diplomat, who reiterated his country's support to Morocco in the Moroccan Sahara issue, called for increasing trade between Morocco and Chile.
He also underlined the need to define a clear vision of the actions to be taken in the coming years, which will be marked by the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the two countries.
