This new figure brings to 12,636 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the declaration of the first case on March 2, and to 9,026 the number of people who fully recovered, that is a recovery rate of about 71.4%, said Head of the Epidemic Diseases Division at the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health Hind Ezzine.
The death toll has stabilized at 228, with no deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, she added.
With regard to the geographical distribution of new cases, 22 new cases were identified in the Casablanca-Settat region (12 cases in Casablanca, 2 cases in Mohammedia, 3 cases in Sidi Bennour and 5 cases in Médiouna), 12 new cases in the region of Marrakech-Safi (5 cases in Marrakech, 5 cases in Safi and 2 cases in Al Haouz), 6 new cases were identified in the region of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (5 cases in Tangier and 1 case in Mdiq), 40 new cases in the Fez-Meknès region (37 cases in Fez, 2 cases in Sefrou and 1 case in Meknes), 9 new cases in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region (6 cases in Kénitra and 3 in Témara), 6 new cases in the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region (in Laâyoune), 3 new cases in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region (in Dakhla), and 5 new cases in the eastern region (3 cases in Oujda and 2 cases in Jerrada) while the other regions did not record any new cases, said the official.
Referring to the contact person tracking system, which enabled 90% of the 103 new cases to be detected, the official noted that their number has currently reached 67,535, of which 11,268 are still under medical supervision, indicating that the number of cases excluded after negative test results stood at 685,492.
Regarding active cases, Ezzine noted that 3,382 patients are currently under treatment, 17 of whom are in critical condition due to their risk factors such as old age or chronic diseases. These at-risk patients receive the necessary care and are divided between the Marrakech-Safi region (6 patients), the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region (7 patients), the Casablanca-Settat region (2 patients), the region de Guelmim-Oued Noun (1 patient) and the region of Fez-Meknès (1 patient).
To avoid new contamination and particularly that of people with vulnerable health such as the elderly and people with chronic diseases like diabetes, renal insufficiency or severe obesity, the Ministry of Health calls on this category of citizens to avoid crowded places and invites them and their relatives to comply with preventive measures and social distancing.
The ministry invites citizens to respect the rules of hygiene and health security as well as the preventive measures taken by the authorities, by showing responsibility and patriotism.
