Like the first stage of the operation, which lasted from June 16 to 21 and enabled the repatriation of 1,480 Moroccans on board 12 special flights, priority was given in this humanitarian operation to vulnerable people, notably people whose financial capacities have been exhausted following the closing of borders, as well as sick people, pregnant women, newborns, people with special needs and the elderly.
The Moroccan consul general in Istanbul M'hamed Ifriquine said that the repatriation operation for Moroccans had taken place "in normal conditions", noting that the Moroccan authorities will organize other flights this week.
Ifriquine also said in a statement to MAP that the beneficiaries from the repatriation operation were transported from the hotels to the airport by equipped buses and in full compliance with security procedures and social distancing rules, noting that the list of beneficiaries was set according to precise, strict and transparent criteria and in coordination with the central administration.
Ifriquine also said that, following Morocco's decision to close its borders due to the coronavirus epidemic, the costs of accommodation, food and medical care for around 3,000 Moroccan citizens stranded in Turkey have been paid.
