"I take this opportunity to congratulate and thank His Majesty the King for his act of solidarity with brotherly African countries and the African Union Commission (...) a pan-Africanist act to find African solutions to African problems," the AU Commissioner told MAP at the end of a meeting on Friday at the African Union headquarters with Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the AU and UNECA, ambassador Mohamed Arrouchi.
This act of solidarity by HM King Mohammed VI with African brothers is highly welcomed and appreciated, said Cessouma Minata Samate, expressing the hope that other countries on the continent will follow Morocco's example.
Moroccan medical aids "are products made in Africa, in the Kingdom, and COVID-19 has given us the opportunity to see that Africa is capable of making its own medical equipment to cope with the pandemic," she said.
"This pandemic does not spare any sector and as Commissioner for Political Affairs we are also concerned, we deal with political, humanitarian, electoral and human rights issues and we have seen the impact of the coronavirus on all these sectors", she added.
