“With this royal initiative, His Majesty King Mohammed VI has kindly marked the fraternal and friendly relations between the Union of the Comoros and Morocco. It is a new level in South-South and intra-African cooperation,” the Comorian Minister told MAP.
He also reiterated his thanks to HM the King, adding that "it is with great joy that we have received today the aid sent by His Majesty the King".
The Moroccan medical aid sent to the Union of the Comoros arrived Tuesday morning at Moroni international airport.
The aid was received at a ceremony which was attended by Comorian foreign minister, Mohamed El-Amine Souef, economy minister, Covid-19 coordinator and government’s spokesperson, Houmed Msaidie, health minister, Loub Yakout Zaidou, and Director of African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Moroccans abroad, Mohamed Sbihi.
The Moroccan aid sent to several African countries is intended to provide protective medical equipment to support these countries in their efforts to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The medical aid sent to these countries includes some 8 million medical masks, 900,000 protective visors, 600,000 hygiene caps, 60,000 medical gowns, 30,000 liters of hydroalcoholic gel, 75,000 boxes of chloroquine and 15,000 boxes of Azithromycin.
This solidarity action is part of the implementation of the Initiative launched by HM the King on April 13, 2020, as a pragmatic and action-oriented approach, intended to the brotherly African countries, enabling the sharing of experiences and good practices and aiming to establish an operational framework in order to support their efforts in the various phases of the management of the pandemic.
