The new figures bring to 8,537 the number of contaminations since the outbreak of the epidemic and to 7,583 the number of people fully healed, i.e. a recovery rate of 88.8%, said Dr. Mouad Mrabet, coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the ministry.
The number of deaths remained at 211, i.e. a case-fatality rate of 2.5%, he added, noting that this rate is below the world average (5.6%) and well below the African average (2.7%).
The new confirmed cases, he said, were registered in five regions of the Kingdom, namely Marrakech-Safi (10 cases in Marrakech in two family homes), Casablanca-Settat (10 cases in Casablanca), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (06 cases in Tangier and Larache), Fez-Meknes (two cases in Fez) and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (one case in Kénitra at a workplace).
The 29 new contaminations have been detected through the case-contact tracking system, he said, noting that the number of contact persons have reached 49,350, of whom 6,338 are still under medical supervision.
On the other hand, an additional 16,511 cases were excluded after negative laboratory test results, i.e. a total of 364,054 cases excluded since the outbreak of the virus, according to data provided by Dr. Mrabet.
Regarding active cases, he stressed that 743 patients are currently under treatment in various hospitals in the Kingdom, that is 2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, explaining that these cases are mainly concentrated in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (246), Marrakech-Safi (198), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (156) and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (85), while the regions of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra and Souss-Massa have only one active case each.
Nine cases are placed in intensive care or resuscitation, including five in Casablanca (2 under artificial respiration) and four in Tangier (3 cases under artificial respiration), he concluded.
