In the context of the health crisis related to the Covid 19 pandemic, the agricultural and fisheries sectors have managed, since the declaration of the state of health emergency in Morocco, to maintain their activities and productions, the ministry said Thursday in a statement, recalling that the activity has thus continued throughout the value chain allowing a regular and sufficient supply of the market in agricultural and fishery food products.
In order to maintain these achievements, added the ministry, the mobilization will have to continue and be reinforced, stressing that this renewed dynamics to which the various actors are called upon will make it possible to consolidate the performances and the capacities of adaptation and intervention of the agricultural and fisheries sectors, demonstrated during this exceptional and unprecedented context.
The same source insisted that the different actors are called upon to maintain and increase their vigilance in favor of the introduction of the necessary sanitary measures imposed by the health risk linked to the current pandemic.
The statement also pointed out that the mobilization of farmers and fishermen in all regions of the Kingdom and of all professionals has enabled the entire production chain to operate normally.
In the agricultural sector, the program for the installation of the various crops was respected, exceeding the objectives for certain crops. The Moroccan market has also experienced, despite the context of the pandemic, a varied and sufficient supply, in spite of the consumption peaks recorded during the declaration of the state of health emergency and that related to the month of Ramadan.
The market of fishery products was also characterized by an increased supply of fresh and frozen fish thanks to the mobilization of fishermen who have maintained their activity, as well as the mobilization of the various players in the sector.
Despite the exceptional and unprecedented context, no discontinuity or shortage was reported for agricultural and fishery food products, and the two sectors were also able to maintain their export commitments and activities.
