At a plenary session of the House of Representatives, devoted to the discussion of his presentation on "Confinement management for the post-20 May period", El Otmani said that from the outset it was made clear that confinement does not mean stopping industrial and economic activity, but rather stopping a set of units open to the public, so that they are not a source of transmission of the epidemic.
El Otmani recalled the joint report sent on 20 March to professionals by the ministries of the Interior, Industry, Trade and the Green and Digital Economy, which sets out the list of necessary business activities and services that must continue to provide their products and services to citizens during the period of the health emergency.
After pointing out that many businesses were in operation, El Otmani said that at times, due to mouvement difficulties and fear of the epidemic, some employers and employees had stopped their activities, adding that very few establishments had been closed by decision of the authorities for non-compliance with standards.
El Otmani insisted that the decision taken, from the outset, was that all industrial units, companies and enterprises should continue to operate, while complying with health and protective measures.
The head of government said on Tuesday at the joint meeting of the two Houses of parliament that the government has a well-defined strategy, based on clear conditions and principles, as well as comprehensive and targeted sectoral measures for the lifting of confinement.
The deconfinement process will start as soon as the epidemiological and logistical conditions are in place, he said.
