This operation, carried out in cooperation with local authorities and with the support of the National Initiative for Human Development, benefited to 148 students from 16 African and Asian countries.
It was also carried out as part of the mobilization of the resources of the Moroccan Red Crescent to provide social support to categories affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
The initiative is also in accordance with the importance given by HM King Mohammed VI to foreign students, particularly African students, given the bounds of brotherhood that link Morocco and other African countries, said the president of the provincial office of the Moroccan Red Crescent in M'diq-Fnideq, Mohamed Larbi Mrabet.
It is the first stage of a global operation which aims to provide support to people in precarious situation during the coronavirus pandemic, he explained, noting that this phase mainly concerned African students who are pursuing their studies at the Abdelmalek Essaadi University's faculties.
The second phase of the operation will be divided into three stages so as to provide support to people with chronic diseases (kidney failure, cancer, diabetes ...), widows, the elderly, workers in the traditional fishing sector, as well as those working in transportation and taxi drivers, he added.
For his part, the president of the association of African students and trainees in Tetouan, Assoumana Kimba Ismael, said that this operation provided food aid to all foreign students in Martil from 16 different countries, including Niger, Mali, Côte d'Ivoire, the Central African Republic, Malaysia and Thailand.
In this regard, he expressed his thanks to the Moroccan Red Crescent and the local authorities for the support provided to foreign students during these particular times.
