With regard to trade flows, imports amounted to 20 million tons, marking an increase of 5.2%, while exports recorded a net improvement of 7.4%, with a volume of 11.1 million tons, the ANP noted in a statement, adding that "the port community, under the aegis of the Agency, has shown an unprecedented commitment to ensure the transit of foreign trade in a difficult context marked by the Covid-19 and by massive imports of cereals".
Foreign trade passing through the ports, managed by the ANP since the beginning of the year to the end of April of the current year, was fundamentally marked by massive arrivals of cereal traffic which reached 3.4 million tons, up 36%, a great performance of fertilizers and raw phosphate with growth rates of 63% and 6% respectively, as well as an increase in coal imports (+5%).
As far as container traffic is concerned, it stood at 445,807 TEUs and 4.3 million tons, recording a near stagnation respectively in tonnage and number of TEU containers, the statement indicated, pointing out that the port of Casablanca as the main port for the transit of domestic container traffic posted an increase of 6% in TEUs (and +3% in tons).
