Morocco received a new positive signal from the EU Council, which reaffirmed in its technical assessment that the reforms of the business and free trade areas system in Morocco are in accordance with legislation and expectations of Brussels, noted a press release from the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform.
This is another demonstration that Morocco continues to respect the roadmap towards the total and final exit from the EU gray list in October 2020, according to the ministry.
Indeed, in a publication dated April 30, 2020, the EU Council analyzed in detail the reforms of Morocco according to several criteria to check concordance with community achievements, specified the same source.
The issued technical documents explained the application of various evaluation criteria to the reforms included in the appropriation bill of the Kingdom of Morocco Number 70-19 of 2020, concluding that the system is not prejudicial to FTAs and the business regime.
The assessments also specified, for the two reforms mentioned, that Morocco meets European conditions with regard to "granfathering", noted the same source.
This is one more step for Morocco, confirming the credible and peaceful progress of the reforms undertaken by the Kingdom in tax matters as well as the effectiveness of cooperation and negotiation with the EU and its institutions, the press release added.
