These levels exceed the consumption needs of this basic product at the national level which reach about 7,000 tonnes/day, the ministry said in a press release, noting that despite the exceptional demand, particularly since the declaration of the state of health emergency and the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, market supply remains regular thanks to new acquisitions confirmed by the gas sector's stakeholders in Morocco.
These operations make it possible to preserve the current stocks and even to improve them during the next three months, underlined the same source, noting that despite the current context, the actors of the sector continue the activities of reception, storage and distribution, in accordance with the national strategy to fight the new coronavirus pandemic through the application of all prevention and security measures, in addition to activating the work continuity plan to guarantee supply of the national market in better conditions.
From the onset of this health crisis and as part of a proactive approach aqgainst any possible repercussions of covid-19, the ministry took a series of measures to avoid disruptions in the supply of gas cylinders, such as the obligation to return an empty gas cylinder to buy a new one and the sale of only one bottle per customer at each supply stage.
It is also concerns guaranteeing adequate means of transport to ensure the continuous supply of this product, to extend working hours in filling centers to meet national needs, as well as to intensify the visits of control commissions to identify violations and take legal action against offenders, said the press release, adding that the immediate application of these measures regionally enabled the stable demand and supply of gas cylinders.
