In his address on the occasion of May 1st, Amekraz, citing the results of the national employment survey conducted by the High Commission for Planning, stressed that in 2019, there had been a boom in the labour market, thanks to the creation of 165,000 jobs, a drop in the unemployment rate to 9.2% (9.5% in 2018) with a slight decline in the activity and employment rates to 45.8% and 41.6% respectively.
Between 2018 and 2019, the overall volume of employment rose from 10.81 million people to 10.975 million, i.e. an increase of 165,000 jobs, the minister said.
The interim results of the 2018-2019 plan are positive and illustrate the ministry's areas of action in terms of labor, employment and social protection," he said.
The government, he said, has continued the implementation of the national employment promotion plan, the strengthening of labor market governance, especially at the territorial level, and the extension of the social protection system to categories other than wage-earners.
