Over 3,700 People Arrested for Violating Health Emergency Rules - Police

Rabat - Security operations carried out to ensure the implementation of health emergency rules intended to stop the spread of the coronavirus pandemic led to the arrest, over the past 24 hours, of 3,795 people, including 1,910 who were placed on custody pending the end of investigations led by the competent public prosecutor's offices, National Police said Sunday in a statement.

As part of security operations carried out to ensure the implementation of health emergency rules, since it was imposed by public authorities, a total of 72,685 people were arrested throughout Morocco, including 38,842 who were brought before the competent public prosecutor's offices, the source added.

These arrests were carried out in the prefectures of Casablanca (9,709), Rabat (9,406), Kenitra (7,936), Marrakech (6,748), Oujda (6,059), Agadir (4,658), Salé (3,959), Tetouan (3,882), Meknes (3,796), Beni Mellal (2,995), Fez (2,275), El Jadida (2,109), Settat (1,997), Tangier (1,970), Ouarzazate (1,372), Laayoune (1,325), Errachidia (820), Taza (794), Safi (608) and Al Hoceima (263).

Security services will continue to reinforce control operations in all the Moroccan cities and coordinate their interventions with the various public authorities with a view to ensuring the strict implementation of the health emergency rules, the source pointed out.
