Two new coronavirus-related deaths were reported in the same period, bringing the total number of fatalities to 161, while fifty-six new recoveries were registered, which rises to 593 the total number of recovered covid-19 patients, Director of epidemiology at the ministry of Health, Mohamed El Youbi, pointed out in a statement broadcast by MAP on its M24 channel and RIM radio.
The suspected cases excluded following negative tests have reached 23,334, he added, noting that 134 of these cases were detected thanks to medical surveillance of people who had contact with confirmed cases.
The official underlined, in this regard, that medical monitoring remains an effective means for the diagnosis of the disease, noting that 7,244 people who had contact with confirmed cases are still in quarantine and under medical supervision.
The mortality rate dropped to 4%, he said, noting that the receovery rate rose to 14.6%.
Regarding the geographical spread of the virus, El Youbi said that Casablanca-Settat region is still the hardest hit with the largest number of confirmed cases (26%), followed by Marrakech-Safi (21%), Fez-Meknes (13%), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (13%) and Draa-Tafilalet (13%).
