One in 9 companies has definitively stopped activity, 5 in 9 companies have suspended their activities while third of the companies still remain in activity but have reduced their production, HCP pointed out following a survey conducted on the effects of Covid-19 on enterprises' activities.
More than 133,000 jobs were cut in the export sector, i.e 18% of all jobs cut in all economic sectors (72.6000), the source said, noting that more than 50,000 jobs were cut at exporting companies operating in the textile and leather industry, or 62% of the total jobs cut in this sector.
As for information and communication companies, they have cut 7,200 jobs, that is 60% of the total of jobs cut in this sector, while 38% of jobs (14,000 jobs) were cut in the industrial, metallic and mechanical sector.
According to the same source, 11,000 jobs were cut in the agri-food sector (35%) and 10,000 jobs (30%) in the chemical and parachemical sector.
The telephone survey was carried out from April 1 to 3, 2020 among 4,000 companies operating in several sectors.
