Since April 7, when Morocco made the wearing of masks compulsory, the authorities have "done the right thing" and state-subsidised masks are now available in almost all the country's pharmacies and grocery stores and are offered for a modest sum, the French-speaking TV channel pointed out.
In barely five days, 13 million masks were distributed, "the first results of the start-up of local industrial production decided in early April," according to TV5Monde.
In this report, TV5Monde also focused on the policy of regulating the distribution of masks, which makes it possible to provide masks to all companies that request them.
To meet demand and increase the country's production, the State has mobilized textile companies that had closed down, supplying them with the fabric, the TV channel noted, stating that some of these companies have even equipped themselves with sterilization machines to bring their production up to standard.
Morocco, which is in the process of increasing its production, plans to very quickly reach a production of five million masks per day and foreign countries, including France, have already made contact to import some, said TV5Monde.
