Sharp Drop in Traffic Accidents in Urban Areas During Health Emergency Period - Police

Rabat - The number of traffic accidents in urban areas fell sharply since the start of health emergency rules, National Police (DGSN) said on its Facebook page.

A total of 942 accidents were recorded between March 20 and April 12, against 4,616 during the same period in 2019 (- 79.59%), the source added.

The number of people killed in these traffic accidents also recorded a significant drop of 65.52%, going from 58 deaths during this period in 2019 to 20 deaths between March 20 and April 12, 2020, DGSN noted.

The number of people seriously injured in traffic accidents fell by 79.12% from 249 in 2019 to 52 in 2020.

A drop of 81.05% was also reported in the number of minor injuries, which went from 5,959 in 2019 to 1,129 in 2020, according to the same source.
