The national police services had started the search operations after a police patrol in charge of ensuring the application of sanitary confinement measures was targeted by stone throwing from the top of a residential building in the Sidi Moumen neighbourhood, said the National Police (DGSN) in a press release.

This search operation led to the identification and arrest of two suspects, while a third, with a criminal record, was apprehended after physically assaulting an officer of the rank of Caïd while on duty, said the same source.

The three suspect were remanded in police custody for the preliminary investigation ordered by the competent public prosecutor's office, in order to shed light on these criminal acts.

Field security operations carried out by police services are continuing in order to ensure the strict application of the preventive provisions under the state of health emergency, concluded the press release.
