In this respect, it has launched, within its Tech Center, initiatives aimed at developing innovative and local solutions that can contribute to the fight against Covid-19 in Morocco, according to a UIR statement.
Among the solutions developed thanks to the University's Tech Center and its rapid prototyping workshops (3D additive manufacturing, laser cutting, etc.), is the manufacture of protective face masks for the nursing staff of hospitals in the Rabat region, in particular the Mohammed V Military Hospital of Instruction, the Rabat Children's Hospital, the Avicenne Hospital and the Covid-19 Specialized Hospital in Saidia (Eastern region), the same source added.
These actions also include the integration of compact solutions using UAVs for citizen awareness against Covid-19 in the Eastern region and the manufacture of more durable FFP (Filtering Facial Piece) masks to replace disposable masks with a limited lifespan, the statement pointed out, noting that a validation test is under way at the Military Hospital.
The UIR is recognized today as a national and African leader in innovation with more than 340 patents at the national level, about sixty internationally, and about ten technology transfers to the market.
