These legal actions take place as part of the implementation by the public prosecutor of the repressive provisions stipulated in the decree-law N ° 2.20.292 relating to the health emergency and the procedures of its declaration, the source pointed out in a statement, adding that 334 of these people were arrested and brought to justice.
Since public authorities announced the health emergency on March 20 and until March 23, 263 other people have been prosecuted, including 43 in detention, for breaking the penal code, thus bringing the total number of people prosecuted in this regard to 5,098, it said.
Moroccan courts have handed down prison terms and sentenced some of these accused to pay fines, the statement added.
Moreover, and as part of the fight against fake news, the prosecution opened 81 judicial inquiries that led to the prosecution of 58 people, while other investigations are underway, the source said.
