In a statement, the national police (DGSN) said that the suspect had published a "Live" video last Monday (23 March), in which he alleged that the authority officer was distributing exceptional traffic permits in exchange for sums of money, which endangered the safety of this officer while he was on the public highway, adding that this situation required the immediate intervention of the nearest police patrol in order to ensure his safety after a number of citizens had gathered around him.
The suspect also broadcast another video in which he claimed that the police intervention was aimed at arresting the authority officer red-handed of corruption, the same source added, noting that this false information was broadcast by several pages on social networking platforms.
The investigations conducted by the Tangier judicial police made it possible to identify and arrest the suspect, after rejecting his false allegations and lies claiming that the authority officer had refused to grant him an exceptional traffic permit in order to take care of his sick wife, the statement noted, stating that it turned out that he was not married at all, and that the publication of these allegations was for the purpose of defaming the officer in order to tarnish his reputation.
The suspect has been placed in police custody to complete the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office to determine the ins and outs of these criminal acts, the DGSN stresses, noting that vigilance and monitoring efforts are continuing to suppress any digital content likely to jeopardize the application of the preventive measures imposed by the state of health emergency.
