In her capacity as Chairwoman of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation for Deaf Children and Youth, HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa embraces the concerns of this vulnerable category of the population. Through her generosity, voluntarism and high sense of social commitment from an early age, HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa has left her mark on the field of social action for children with hearing loss.
Her Royal Highness provides the Foundation with precious support and gives of herself and her time to ensure the well-being of deaf and mute children and to contribute to their integration into the social fabric as full-fledged citizens.
For half a century, the institution, a pioneer in the care of deaf and mute children, has provided specialized teaching based on the national education system's primary and secondary school curriculum to beneficiaries who are entitled to the most advanced technical support, particularly through digital hearing aids, cochlear implants and electronic transmission systems that facilitate their integration and breakthrough from isolation.
The Foundation, whose activity is undergoing significant growth thanks to the high concern of HM King Mohammed VI, offers 160 students the opportunity to have access to primary and secondary education.
Always striving to be as close as possible to the concerns and expectations of this disadvantaged social category, HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa chairs, each year, the Foundation's end-of-year ceremony.
Faithful to this annual tradition awaited with great joy and enthusiasm by the students and their families, HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa chaired on 18 June 2017 in Rabat the graduation ceremony of the 2017-2018 school year of the Foundation.
On this occasion, HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa visited the practical work class (physics and chemistry) and heard explanations on the holiday village in Agadir of the Mohammedia Foundation of social works of magistrates and justice officials. Her Royal Highness also visited a mobile dental care unit developed by the Faculty of Dentistry at the Lalla Asmaa Foundation.
Her Royal Highness also visited the robotics workshop in the presence of the 9 students who won the 3rd prize at the national robotics tournament.
HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa subsequently presided over the signing ceremony of two partnership agreements between the Foundation and several partners. The first of which is a partnership between the Lalla Asmaa Foundation and the Faculty of Dentistry in Rabat, which aims to provide the Foundation's children with free access to dental care.
The second agreement is a partnership between the Lalla Asmaa Foundation and the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sport for All (FRMSPT), aimed at enabling the Foundation's children and young people to benefit from the Federation's sports activities.
Cultural and sports activities are another sector of concern for the Princess who also chairs the association for the protection of animals and nature.
