This agreement, signed by Health Minister El Houcine El Ouardi, representatives of local authorities and General Secretary of the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment, Latifa Labida, is meant to reinforce and diversify the medical offer in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region through the construction and equipping of the Regional Oncological Center, a cancer diagnosis center, four reference centers in reproductive health and screening for breast and cervical cancers, the House of Life, as well as the acquisition of a mobile mammography unit.
On this occasion, explanations were provided to HRH Princess Lalla Salma on this project, which required a budget of about 160 million dirhams, of which 100 million dirhams were granted by the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment.
The construction works of the Regional Oncological Centre, which will extend over an area of 3,215 square meters, will last for 18 months.
The Centre will include an internal and external radiotherapy unit with two bunkers for two linear accelerators, a radiation physics unit, a dosimetry device, a reception and study room, a chemotherapy day hospital, a preparation unit that meets international standards, a treatment room with 10 seats, a room for consultation and individual control, a reception room, a pharmacy and several other outbuildings.
This new oncological center will provide treatment to cancer patients in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region by hosting nearly 3,000 patients a year.
Upon Her arrival, HRH Princess Lalla Salma reviewed a detachment of the Auxiliary Forces who made the honors before being greeted notably by Health Minister El Houcine El Ouardi and representatives of local authorities.
