As the National Anti-Cancer Day coincides this year with the 10th anniversary of the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment, a film on the Foundation's activities over the 2005-2015 period was screened on this occasion.
HRH Princess Lalla Salma followed a presentation on the results of an important study "Knowledge, Attitudes and Perceptions of Cancer", surveying segments of the population in 2015, ten years after the first study. The latter shows a clear positive evolution in efforts of communication and awareness raising and in the different actions led to ameliorate the fight against cancer.
The results of a midpoint evaluation of the 2010-2019 National Plan for Cancer Prevention and Control were presented by experts from the French High Council for Public Health.
To close the event, HRH Princess Lalla Salma handed the 2015 International Prize for Anti-Cancer Fight to Pr. Dominique Elias, an eminent surgeon oncologist at the Paris Gustave Roussy hospital.
Her Royal Highness also gave the National Prize to Bruno Perrussel, director general of "Shem's Publicité" in recognition of his commitment to the Foundation since its inception and his strong involvement in its information campaigns.
Dominique Elias and Bruno Perrussel voiced their joy over these awards and expressed their gratitude to HRH Princess Lalla Salma, hailing the innovative vision by the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment, which was crowned by the achievement of excellent results in the field of anti-cancer fight.
Director general of the Foundation Rachid Bakkali underlined that the success of the Foundation during a decade was due to partnerships with public authorities, territorial authorities, the private sector and civil society, as well as to the exceptional leadership of HRH Princess Lalla Salma.
Upon her arrival, HRH Princess Lalla Salma reviewed a detachment of auxiliary forces which paid the honors and was greeted mainly by agriculture minister Aziz Akhannouch, industry minister Moulay Hafid Elalamy, and health minister El Houssaine Louardi.
