The Award was presented to HRH Prince Moulay Rachid by HH Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

   "The Arab Family Organization has the immense privilege to award the personality of the Year for Family Cohesion and Social Security to HM King Mohammed VI," AFO Chairman Jamal Bin Obeid Al-Bah said, adding that the award is a recognition of the efforts of HM the King to promote the Moroccan and Arabic family.

   He also stressed that the award, which reinforces the cohesion of the Arab family, is a strong message highlighting the prominent place of the family institution in Arab societies.

   For her part, Iness Mekkaoui, director of the Department of Women, Family and Child in the Arab League, hailed the efforts made by HM the King in favor of the Moroccan and Arabic family for a balanced social development of society.

   Becoming a model in the Arab world, the Family Code (Moudouana) is part of a series of important reform and development initiatives made by the Sovereign, she underlined.

   Mekkaoui also highlighted the development approach adopted by HM the King to fight poverty, seen as a pioneer, practical and realistic step to promote family and citizen's conditions in Morocco.

   The Arab Family Organization elected, on April 19, HM King Mohammed VI as the Personality of the Year for Family Cohesion and Social Security, in recognition of the Sovereign's efforts in promoting family and social development.

   A committee of academics and intellectuals elected HM King Mohammed VI, based on His initiatives aimed at promoting family and Morocco’s development, which made Morocco a reference of peace and stability in the Arab world.

   The committee also hailed HM the King's will to promote peace, stability and dialogue in Arab countries, as well as His defense of Arab and humanitarian causes.  

   According to the organization, the award is granted to the Arab leader who has endeavored to consolidate social cohesion and stability, via a project, a programme or an initiative.

   AFO also announced that it is writing a book "retracing the career of the king that promotes the Arabic identity and humanity, HM King Mohammed VI, king of Morocco". This book will be divided into several chapters, including "the promising vision of a king who conquered the hearts of the humanity", "the Kingdom of Morocco, gateway to Arab identity and pride", "philosophy and strategy of the King of sincere Arab feelings".
