In a speech at the beginning of the ceremony, Her Royal Highness said that Moroccan works of art displayed today in Paris reflect projects undertaken recently by Morocco to foster the country's intangible wealth and broaden access to art and culture.
HRH Princess Lalla Meryem congratulated artists whose works were selected and who will be, during the upcoming months, ambassadors of Morocco's modern and contemporary creation.
The French president said that the presence of HRH Princess Lalla Meryem in the inauguration of this exhibition mirrors the friendship ties between Morocco and France, lauding in this respect HM King Mohammed VI's initiatives to promote art and culture.
This is a great exhibition as it is a unique event that reflects the wealth and diversity of the Moroccan heritage, said Hollande, commending the close cooperation between the IMA, the Louvre Museum and the National Foundation for Museums for organizing this event and the one on "Medieval Morocco" as well.
IMA president Jack Lang said that this exhibition is an exceptional event for an exceptional country, explaining that Morocco is an exception thanks, first of all, to its constitution which protects the plurality of its heritages.
On this occasion, the event's sponsors were presented to HRH Princess Lalla Meryem and the French president.
Afterwards, HRH Princess Lalla Meryem and the French president visited the different stands of the exhibition held under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI and the French head of state.
Her Royal Highness and the French president were given details on the event which is built over a surface area of 2,500 m2 and which will run until January 25.
Held under the theme of the Moroccan constitution preamble, which defends the plurality of its heritages: Arab-Islamic, Amazigh, Saharan-Hassani, African, Andalousian, Hebrew and Mediterranean, the exhibition gives the opportunity to some 700 artists, musicians, singers, writers, and dancers to make their voice heard.
Her Royal Highness and the French president also visited the Saharan tent set up at the IMA square over 500 square meters to pay tribute to the Moroccan desert. It includes a market for Moroccan handicrafts and a restaurant to taste Moroccan dishes.
As part of the event, 30 concerts featuring notably Berber, Arab and andalusian music styles are programmed, in addition to Moroccan movies, dance shows and conferences on politics, religions, feminism, media, economy, and literature.
At her arrival, Her Royal Highness was received mainly by Jack Lang, Culture minister Mohamed Amine Sbihi, Morocco's ambassador to France Chakib Benmoussa, Morocco's ambassador to the UNESCO Zouhour Alaoui and palace's spokesperson and Morocco's historiographer Abdelhak Mrini.
