Built for a sum of 40 million dirhams, this project reflects the importance the Monarch attaches to the health sector, particularly by building hospitals, and strengthening basic and accessible health services.
Spanning on an area of 7500 s-q-m, the new hospital accommodates 108 beds, including departments for treating psychotic and neurotic illnesses, emergency and consultation services, an administrative section, and a recreational and occupational therapy room. It also includes services of Child Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, psycho-physiology and addiction, and a center for training doctors and nurses.
In addition to its primary mission as care provider, the Mohammed VI psychiatric health center offers training sessions, and contributes to patients' social reintegration.
With the aim to promote mental health in the Kingdom, a new national strategy has been set up based on five main areas, namely improving quality of health care, training medical and paramedical staff, building partnerships, improving the legal framework, and the adoption of a new drug policy.
Three more regional psychiatric hospitals are to be built in Agadir, Kenitra, and Kelâa Sraghna, as well as three units of Child Psychiatry in Rabat, Fez, and Marrakech.
