Aimed at beautifying the urban landscape, improving working conditions for traders, settling hawkers, eradicating substandard buildings, the programme consists mainly of developing the "Bab Sidi Abdelouahab" esplanade, building a shopping complex (514 shops) and a fruit and vegetable market (210 shops), building the "Al Fadila" mosque and restoring the Moulay Abdellah school.
The programme, which is part of the old Medina rehabilitation component which is an integral part of the rehabilitation and urban upgrading programme for the city of Oujda, also provides for the reconstruction of part of the old wall and cleaning the facades of buildings adjacent to the site.
The 150 million dirham programme is intended in particular to safeguard the magnificent Bab Sidi Abdelwahab square which is clearly indicative of the Multifaceted architectural history.
On this occasion, HM the King symbolically handed over property certificates to the beneficiaries of the "Bab Sidi Abdelouahab" shopping complex project.
