Aimed at improving the living conditions of the local population, strengthening basic infrastructure and preserving the environment, the programmes provide in particular for the redevelopment and enhancement of the road network, the rehabilitation and extension of the liquid waste network, the setting up of sewage treatment stations in the two communes and the protection of the city of Bni Drar against floods.
The 176 million dirham Bni Drar urban upgrading programme provides for building an indoor sports hall, a football pitch, public squares and parks, in addition to the renovation of the lighting and signaling network.
The programme also provides for the rehabilitation and extension of the existing liquid waste network, the construction of a pumping station, the establishment of connections and the construction of a wastewater treatment plant, with a capacity of 852 cubic metres per day.
Moreover, it provides for the protection of the city against flood risks, in particular through the construction of a dam on the Sefrou river.
As to the 28 million dirham Naima urban upgrading programme, it will contribute to the beautification of the city thanks to road works, street lighting and sewerage.
The two-year programme (2013-2014), which also provides for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant, is bound to contribute to strengthening the position of the city as a new emerging urban centre.
