Like Jorf Phosphate Hub (JPH) for the northern phosphate axis (Khouribga-Jorf Lasfar), Safi Phosphate Hub will contribute to boosting the central axis which includes Benguerir and Youssoufia mines (Gantour).
The 30 billion dirham Safi Phosphate Hub will gradually accommodate all the activities of the current OCP Safi complex.
The future platform, which spans over an area of 1,300 hectares, is meant to enhance the special qualities of the Gantour phosphate deposit in a first stage and the thus far untapped Meskala deposit in the region of Essaouira later on.
The SPH activity will be devoted in part to the production of innovative products, such as liquid fertilizers and trace elements as well as specific products, such as dietary phosphate, special acids and Teractiv.
The future site will include five sulfuric acid production units with the capacity of 1.4 million tonnes per year each, a thermal power plant with a capacity of 350 Mw, five phosphoric units with a capacity of 450,000 tonnes per year each, DAP, TSP and NPK fertilizer production units, an acid treatment unit and units of specific and innovative products.
Located opposite the new port of Safi, launched today by HM the King, the new site will count on the future port structure in dealing with export/import flows of materials related to the development of this new platform.
On this occasion, HM the King visited the Institute of Primary Socio-Educational Promotion, and symbolically handed school minibuses to rural schools in the province and a lot of bikes for the benefit of pupils in rural areas.
This equipment has been acquired by the OCP to ensure easy access of rural students to their schools and is part of a comprehensive operation to distribute 5,000 bikes and 25 minibuses.
