The Sovereign inaugurated two projects under component I of the Green Plan dedicated to developing the sectors of rosaceous plants and olives in the province.
The 62.4 million dirham projects reflect HM the King's commitment to making the agricultural sector a catalyst for balanced, sustainable economic growth across the regions of the Kingdom and a decisive factor in promoting rural areas by developing agricultural production systems and regulating rural zones management.
The first project, carried out at the rural commune of Ait Sebâa Lajrouf on 96 hectares, consisted of planting 60 hectares of various types of apple (Fuji, Golden, Gala), installing anti-hail nets, and setting up a fertigation station and a drip-drip irrigation system.
It also included building two water impoundments with a total capacity of 15,000 cubic metres and the acquisition of agricultural equipment.
The 22.3 million dirham project, which is expected to generate nearly 40 permanent jobs and 60 occasional ones, banks on an annual production of 3,000 tonnes of apples, that is 50 tonne per hectare.
The second project, carried out at the rural commune of Mternagha, consists of developing the olive sector by planting 340 hectares of bour land with olive trees of different types and building a modern olive trituration unit with a capacity of 74 tonnes per day.
The 40.1 million dirham project, which spans on 550 ha, also consisted of setting up an oil bottling unit, the acquisition of various agricultural equipment and the drilling of twelve wells.
The new project has created 16 permanent jobs and 29 occasional ones and aims to increase the yield of the cultivated land from 1.6 t/ha to 7 t/ha.
On this occasion, HM King Mohammed VI visited the pilot farm REGAGEST.
