HM the King was greeted at the entrance of the Presidential Palace by the President of Senegal.
Before the dinner, HM the King, who wore the Grand Cross of the National Order of the Lion, Senegal's highest order, bestowed the collar of the Wissam Al Mohammadi on SE. Macky Sall.
Addressing President Sall at the outset of the dinner, HM the King said that "relations between Morocco and Senegal have always been vibrant, rich and unique."
The Sovereign expressed delight that "we see eye to eye on all major international and African issues, especially with respect to the growing challenges and risks facing our common strategic space, which borders the Atlantic and the Sahel region."
He highlighted the reputation of Senegal as a democratic nation, "indeed a model on a continent still in the grip of turbulence and upheavals of a supposedly bygone era."
For his part, President Sall inisted that all the Senegalese citizens hold Morocco in their heart, a country whose history, international standing and remarkable stability command respect and admiration."
He also praised the "outstanding economic and social achievements of the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise, dynamic leadership of His Majesty the King."
"The harmony of our companionship is attested to by fruitful cooperation covering a dozen of sectors and marked by 66 agremments. This means our relations are sound and will have a more brilliant future," Sall said.
The dinner was attended by HH Prince Moulay Ismail, Cherif Moulay Youssef, the members of the official delegation accompanying the Sovereign, as well as the speaker of the Senegalese national assembly, the Prime Minister, the president of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, the President of the Senegalese Constitutional Council, members of the government and several other civil and military figures.
