The "Tayeb El Khemal" secondary school, named after one of the victims of the terrorist attacks that rocked Casablanca on May 16, 2003, includes 22 classrooms, a multimedia room, library, meeting room for teachers, and a sports field.
Spanning over a 3,500 m2 area, the school can accommodate up to 1,000 students. It is part of efforts aiming to fight school drop-out and meet the demand for school facilities in rural areas.
On this occasion, HM the King followed a presentation made by the Director of the Regional Academy of Education and Training, Khadija Benchouikh, on school extension programme in the Casablanca region.
Worth some 821 million dirhams ($ 98 Mln), the programme aims at creating 65 schools, expanding several others through the construction of 382 classrooms, and setting up three boarding schools.
It is meant to improve efficiency and performance of the national education system, in perfect harmony with the goals of the 2009-2012 Emergency Programme.
The Sovereign also followed explanations on the programme to upgrade schools and social projects to promote child-education in the region.
