The king offered heartfelt condolences to the deceased's widow, his sons and all his relatives, and through them to the Istiqlal party, of which he was one of old leaders.
The message said Laraki was "one of the devoted servants of the throne, during the various senior missions he held, whether as prime minister" under the late king Hassan II, "or as secretary-general of the organization of the Islamic conference."
Besides his political career, Laraki authored several literary and scholarly publications.
