Snowfall, Thundershowers Expected from Sunday to Wednesday in Several Moroccan Provinces

Rabat - Snowfall on heights above 1,800 m (5,900 feet), a cold wave and thundershowers are expected across several Moroccan provinces, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) said Sunday in an “orange” alert bulletin.

Snowfall ranging from 15 to 35 cm (6 to 14 inches) is expected on Sunday and Monday in the provinces of Azilal, Tinghir, Al Haouz and Ouarzazate.

Meanwhile, 5 to 10 cm (2-8 inches) of snow is forecast during the same period in the provinces of Midelt, Taroudant, Beni Mellal and Ifrane.

Minimum temperatures will be ranging from -05 to 01°C, while maximum are expected between 04 and 10°C from Sunday to Wednesday, in the provinces of Boulemane, Midelt, Ifrane, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Figuig and Ouarzazate.

Heavy thundershowers (15-30 mm) are also forecast on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the provinces of Youssoufia, Rehamna, Marrakech, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Chichaoua, Settat, Khouribga, Benslimane and Fquih Ben Salah.
